Greetings fellow gamers, and welcome to my portfolio. My name is John Hahn, and I would like to tell you a bit about myself. I was born and raised in the Texas Panhandle in a small town called Pampa (pop. ~17,000), which is located just east of Amarillo. From a very young age, I was instilled with a very strong work ethic, the desire to take pride in everything I do, and the appreciation of an education. With a family of guitarists, I was also instilled with a love of music. I also, as you might imagine, had a keen interest in video games.
Since high school, I have had 2 dreams: become a game developer or become a rock star. I’ve been playing guitar since I was ~10 years old, and I have great appreciation for skilled guitarists. After a stint with a local rock band during high school I realized that the music industry was not for me, and I went off to college shortly after the band disbanded. I received my Bachelor’s in Computer Science in December of 2008, and took a job as a mainframe software engineer in Dallas. After a few months, I realized that mainframe business software was not my cup of tea, and I decided to go to the Guildhall to become a game engineer. I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Interactive Technology with a specialization in software development from SMU Guildhall. I have thoroughly enjoyed and excelled in all game related engineering that I have been exposed to including AI, gameplay, graphics, networking, and engine programming, though I have a particular interested in AI and gameplay.
